MM2H requirements 2026: what you need to qualify
These are the MM2H requirements 2026 as the ministry prints them on its MM2H website. Participation is open to people from other countries that have diplomatic relations with Malaysia, and you apply through a licensed MM2H business.
We repeat the ministry numbers and nothing else. Where an agent site or a search summary gives a different number, the ministry page is the one to trust, and each table below shows the day we read it.
MM2H financial requirements
Every tier asks for a fixed deposit in a Malaysian bank licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 or the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013. After you are approved, you may withdraw up to half of it for buying a home, education, medical care and tourism in Malaysia.
On top of the deposit there is a one-off participating fee for the main applicant. Dependants pay no participating fee.
| Tier | Fixed deposit | Participating fee (one-off) | Minimum home price | Main applicant age |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | USD 150,000 | RM1,000 | RM600,000 | age 25 or older |
| Gold | USD 500,000 | RM3,000 | RM1,000,000 | age 25 or older |
| Platinum | USD 1,000,000 | RM200,000 | RM2,000,000 | age 25 or older |

MM2H silver tier requirements
Silver is the entry tier of the three main ones. It asks for a fixed deposit of USD 150,000, a participating fee of RM1,000, and a home worth at least RM600,000 that you buy and own after approval. The pass runs 5 years and can be renewed.
The full Silver breakdown, including what the pass allows and what it does not, is on our Silver tier page.

MM2H SEZ requirements 2026
The special economic zone and special financial zone category has two age bands with different deposits. For ages 50 and above the fixed deposit is USD 32,000. For ages 21 to 49 it is USD 65,000. The participating fee is RM1,000 either way, and the pass runs 10 years.
The property must be in Forest City, Johor, with a floor price set under the Johor state property acquisition policy. The ministry pages print no ringgit floor for it, so ask the developer or your agent for the current price in writing.

Stay in Malaysia, medical check-up and dependants
If you are 25 to 49, you must be in Malaysia for 90 days a year, counted across the year. The principal, the dependants or both can make up those days. The ministry overview table says there is no minimum stay for participants aged 50 and over. The individual tier pages repeat only the shorter rule, so rely on the overview for the 50-and-over case.
After approval, the main applicant and each dependant must have a medical check-up at a clinic or hospital the ministry appoints. This is compulsory.
Dependants can be a spouse, children under 21, and children aged 21 to 34 who are unemployed and single while in Malaysia. Medically certified disabled children of any age are included. So are parents and parents-in-law. Platinum participants may also bring foreign domestic helpers.

MM2H renewal requirements 2026
Passes are renewable. The ministry overview gives these renewal fees: RM1,500 for Silver, RM3,000 for Gold, RM5,000 for Platinum and RM300 for the special economic zone category.
The guidelines add a visa fee of RM0 to RM50, depending on the participant's nationality and a fixed pass fee of RM500 per year for the sticker pass. They do not say how those fit with the renewal fees above, so ask your agent which applies to you.
The Silver page lists the documents for renewal: a copy of a valid passport, the latest medical report and health insurance. The other tier pages we read do not repeat that list.

Common questions
›How long must I stay in Malaysia each year?
If you are between 25 and 49, 90 days a year, which you can share with your dependants. The overview table says participants aged 50 and over have no minimum stay.
›Can I sell the home I buy for MM2H?
Not for 10 years, according to the ministry pages. You can upgrade by buying a home of higher value. The pages say that breaking the terms means the pass is revoked.
›Can my parents come with me?
Yes. The ministry lists parents and parents-in-law among the dependants you may bring.
›Can I work or run a business on an MM2H pass?
On the Silver page, business and investment activities and career opportunities are listed as not allowed. The guidelines list what each category permits in a table that is published as an image, which we could not read as text. Check that table for Gold, Platinum and the special economic zone category before you rely on it.
